What inspires you to write?

I feel my inspiration comes from the way I perceive the world. Being an introvert and inquisitive soul, I am always seeking answers in solitude through my art. I love exploring unanswered experiences and try to decode them through my writing.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

I started penning random musings during my college days. I started as a literature student during my undergraduate era. Reading literature polished the way I perceived the world. Subsequently, my musings turned into poems and short stories.

Why did you choose to write in your genre?

Poetry isn’t just about how to represent your art, but it’s also about who you are as a person.

What are some day jobs you have held, and how have they influenced your writing?

I am a PhD scholar, and it gives my art a huge boost. The level of persistence and innovation required in research makes you excel in your art, too. Your approach to life is elevated through such jobs, and it definitely polishes your art and personality.

What have you written so far?

I have authored two full-volume poetry collections, some articles, and short stories, but poetry is the genre I most believe in.

How long does it take you to write a book?

Usually it takes 2-3 years. My art is usually a collection of experiences I go through. I pen my poems through different stages of life, and eventually, it turns into a poetry collection.

How do you market or promote your books, and what strategies (e.g. social media, email, blog tours, in-person, etc.) have demonstrated the most success for you?

I believe social media is a great way to do that, along with some podcasts and interviews. It isn’t just about promoting your work, but also showing the world who you are as a person through your storytelling persona and communication skills. Meet-and-greet experiences with your readers is another good strategy. Being a good orator matters a lot.

What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

Believe in your art. Be consistent, fail, and come back stronger…believe me, your art will get polished. Have an innovative approach. Be unique. Make mistakes but learn from them. Try to inculcate your experiences in your art. Your life is the greatest source of inspiration for your art.

What made you decide to sit down and start writing this book?

Life is a random rollercoaster ride where you have to face what comes along the way. I felt the themes I addressed in this book are crucial in today’s era, like mental health, heartbreak, resilience, longing, healing, and other shades of human life.

What is one great lesson you have learned as a writer?

Your words have great power that can travel across different borders, cultures, and time periods, connecting you with a vast population.
