It’s time to flex your writing muscles again and have a little fun with words. Waking Writer’s quarterly Writing Prompt Contest has returned. The winner’s story will be featured on Waking Writer and shared widely via social media for broad exposure. What writer can’t use an extra bit of exposure, eh?
So, what are you waiting for? Write a story based on the premise and prompt below.
Premise: A family moves into an old Victorian house in a sleepy town where everybody knows everybody. The house has been vacant for the last five years, and nobody knows why the previous family left so suddenly.
Prompt: Write a 500-word story, but write it from the perspective of the house, not the family.
Writing Prompt Contest Guidelines: Submit your story and contact information via the form below for a chance to have your story featured in Waking Writer. All rights to the story will remain with you, and all genres will be accepted. Feel free to submit more than one story. One winner will be chosen in September and notified via email. The story will be featured on Friday, September 30th and shared widely via social media.
So, go ahead, be brave and creative. I look forward to reading your story submission!
Submission Deadline: September 8th
Fine print: Author retains all rights to the work. Include author name and contact information in manuscript.
