Are you a full-time or part-time writer, and how does that affect your writing?
I am a freelance marketing consultant and an author, so I rarely have time to write books. My first novel, The Bachelors of Egypt, was published in 2017. I published Enlightened Populism: Reflections on the News Cycle of a Pandemic back in 2021. My Interview with ChatGPT was published in 2025, and I published Global Justice in 2026. As you can see, it roughly takes me four years to come up with a new title, with Global Justice being the exception as I felt it was the kind of book the world needs right now.
Do you work with an outline or plot sketch, or do you prefer to let a general idea guide your writing?
The idea for my first novel, The Bachelors of Egypt, started with an imagination of a certain scene of a main character facing an extremely difficult situation and then I started developing the outline accordingly. For my non-fiction titles, Enlightened Populism: Reflections on the News Cycle of a Pandemic and My Interview with ChatGPT, I let the main ideas guide my writing. For my latest novel, Global Justice, I started with a few scattered ideas of the challenges the protagonist might face.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Only express the views you believe to be true.
Can you share a little bit about your latest book?
It is a political thriller titled Global Justice. Global Justice is a fictional global movement integrated into today’s real-world politics, challenges and events. The movement created a political party in the United Kingdom and has candidates running for elections to become MPs. The movement and the party have the short-term goal of abolishing the monarchy in the United Kingdom and the long-term goal of uniting the whole planet under a single government, with equal rights for all citizens of the world.
The protagonist is Mohamed Eissa, he is the head of both the movement and the party and he is the son of two Egyptian immigrants.
Who is your favorite character in your book and why?
Tracy Williams is my favorite character in the novel. She is smart and courageous.
If your book was made into a movie, who would you cast?
Al Pacino would play the King’s role, Johnny Depp would play Keir Starmer’s role, and Robert De Niro would play Nigel Farage’s role.
What one person from history would you like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Socrates to discuss my philosophy, “Enlightened Populism”.
What do you like to read in your free time?
I am interested in philosophy, politics, sociology, psychology… among other genres.
