What did you enjoy the most about writing this book?
The thing that I enjoyed the most about writing this book is that poetry allows me to express my fears and emotions. It allows me to express my feelings and opinions that cannot be expressed out loud.
What is your next project?
My next project is a poetry book directed to the teenagers. I’ve written poems on how difficult it is to be a teenager. Since students have some unforgettable memories in the classrooms and hallways of their schools, I’ve tried highlighting those memories.
What new authors have grasped your interest and why?
A new author that has grasped my interest is Vikrant Khanna. In his amazing book, The Girl Who Knew Too Much, he portrays how a spirit eases a child’s pain about the loss of her mother by telling her a story. The story the spirit tells her, about the reunion of a girl and her dead boyfriend, actually makes the child hopeful that she’ll be able to see her mother again.
What one person from history would you like to meet and why?
I’d love to meet Anne Frank if I had the chance because she had a wonderful perspective and attitude towards life, which is very important, even during the worst times. It is surprising to see how a girl, who was around my age, suffered during that time. From her book, I learned how to be brave. I learned that if you are positive, you can tackle anything in life. Anne always looked forward to what life held next, rather than clinging onto the past. Her book provides lessons on happiness and tranquility amid life’s challenges.
What do you like to read in your free time?
In my free time, I like to read fiction books, such as Land of Stories, The Silent Patient, A Girl in Room 105, etc. These books mostly teach me some valuable lessons about life, relations and people. Other than that, I prefer reading poetry books because these books give me ideas for my poems.
If there was one thing you could do to change the publishing and literary world, what would it be?
If there was one thing I could do to change the publishing and literary world, that would be to give consideration or opportunities to the young and emerging writers. After all, everyone deserves a chance.
If you couldn’t be an author, what would your ideal career be?
If I couldn’t be an author, my ideal career would be to become an english professor. From my childhood, my aim in life was to become a professor. It just amazed me how my grandfather, who was a physics professor and also interested in the literary world, got so much love and respect from his students during his teaching journey, and even after his retirement. I knew I’d like to become a professor, just like him.
