Dee Rose, author of The Hangman

What inspires you to write?

The art of storytelling inspires me to write. Nothing excites me more than sharing my worldview of the supernatural. I love the feedback from people who’ve read my books.

How do you think you’ve evolved creatively?

I think I’ve evolved in my creativity by writing more books out of my comfort zone such as science fiction, romance, and thrillers.

What have you written so far?

I’ve written a book about cloning titled Cloning Around, a romance book titled Forbidden Love, and a science fiction book called Hut-Yo Cull: The Hunt Begins. But the series that I’m most proud of is a ten-book series that I call The Hangman Universe (HMU).

Did you make any marketing mistakes that you would avoid in the future?

The mistakes I’ve made in marketing that I wish to correct in the future are that I need to advertise sooner and attend more writing conferences and festivals. I need to build more contacts.

Can you share with readers a little bit about your latest book?

My latest book is called Jericho Caine, Vampire Slayer: Love, Lust, and Blood.

It centers around the one true vampire slayer, who is depressed because he’s lost his fellow Death Brother in the fight against the supernatural. While he is distracted, a vampire clan has re-rerisen in the East and plans to take advantage of Jericho’s mental state. Werewolves enter the fray as they want to befriend Jericho in their long war with the vampires.

What made you decide to sit down and actually start writing this book?

I decided to write this book because Jericho Caine was one of my favorite characters from my Hangman saga and I wanted to flesh out his story more.

Who is your favorite character in your book and why?

My favorite character in the book, even though he doesn’t show up until the end, is Octus Merrywhether, the son of the Grand Librarian, a power wizard. I’ve always wanted to expand my stories about magic, and he is the perfect vehicle to do it.

What is your next project?

My next project is two more books in this short series. One is based off a new character and titled Father Timothy Toomey: The New Death Brother.

What role does research play in your writing?

For Father Timothy Toomey, I had to research the art of exorcisms and how any man of faith would react in certain situations.

How successful has your quest for reviews been so far?

My request for reviews so far has been lackluster, at best, as I have offered giveaways and participated in a blog tour.

What is one great lesson you have learned as a writer?

One great lesson I’ve learned as a writer is that I’m not the best writer in the world, but I’m damn good though.
