What inspires you to write?
I find inspiration to write in the simple beauty of life’s everyday moments – in conversations, in nature’s wonders, and in the emotions that course through us all. It’s like capturing snapshots of the world and feelings, frozen in words on paper.” Writing is my way of participating in the ongoing conversation of humanity, a humble attempt to distill the complexity of life into words that might resonate with others and, in doing so, contribute a small piece to the ever-evolving mosaic of human expression.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
When I was younger, I would write numerous short stories in multiple genres along with poems. I eventually won a literature contest for a story I had written and illustrated. When I received this first recognition as a writer, I started to believe I could actually be one.
Do you have a special time to write, or how is your day structured to accommodate your writing?
I don’t necessarily have a special or dedicated time to write. However, I do tend to feel extra creative in the late hours and early mornings. I also like to set or frequently change my writing atmosphere. Some of my favorite places to write include by the waters, cafes, galleries, as well as under the moon and stars.
What have you written so far?
As mentioned earlier I’ve written several short stories and poems over the years. However, World Stained Us System Blamed Us is my debut book which was released mid 2020. In 2022, I wrote and released an in-depth guided journal with prompts on self-love and discovery.
Do you work with an outline or plot sketch, or do you prefer to let a general idea guide your writing?
My approach to writing varies depending on the project and my current level of inspiration. For poetry, I rarely rely on an outline, except when I’m adhering to a specific poem format. When it comes to short stories, I often create character profiles and plot sketches. However, there are instances where I simply let my heart and mind guide the writing process freely.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
My advice for aspiring authors is to never forget the initial reason that led you to start writing. Even when faced with challenges, strive to cling to your dreams. Success isn’t a matter of luck or chance; it’s all about giving your absolute best effort.
Can you share with readers a little bit about your latest book?
In World Stained Us, System Blamed Us, I delve into a universal experience that often goes unspoken. Throughout life’s journey, we encounter what I like to refer to as “stains” left by the harsh realities we confront repeatedly. These stains have a way of lingering, shaping our minds and influencing our choices.
Instead of trying to remove these indelible marks, my book suggests a different path. It encourages readers to embrace the pain and use it as a guiding force towards discovering purpose and prosperity. Through the power of poetic expression, I offer words woven from the threads of personal pain, unyielding perseverance, fervent passion, and unique perspective.
What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
What I enjoyed most about writing this book was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream – seeing my own words come together in the form of a book. The process allowed me to pour my deepest passion and emotions onto the pages, and that creative release was incredibly rewarding. Moreover, knowing that my work had the potential to inspire and resonate with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds all across the globe added a profound sense of purpose to the endeavor. It’s a remarkable feeling to think that the words I penned could touch the hearts and minds of readers worldwide, forging connections and leaving an impact far beyond what I could have ever imagined.
What is your next project?
I currently have several projects in progress. The audiobook version of my debut poetry novel, World Stained Us, System Blamed Us, is set to be released in the late fall of this year. Additionally, I’m excited to announce that I have two new poetry books scheduled for release in the coming year.
