Why did you choose to write in your particular field or genre?

I chose to write literary fiction because I was, and still am, obsessed with the sense of growth a character can have in this genre.

Do you work with an outline or plot sketch, or do you prefer to let a general idea guide your writing?

I enjoy creating and working with an outline. It helps me stay on track and flesh out the story more.

How did you decide how to publish your books?

I focused on options that provided access to multiple platforms. I’ve settled on Kindle Direct Publishing, and love the way this program helps me sell and promote my books.

How do you feel about indie/alternative vs. traditional publishing?

When it comes to indie publishing, I enjoy the freedom, but promotion and sales can be more difficult. As for traditional, I think working with those on the same page as you is great. It might be more difficult to possibly not have as much freedom though.

What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

If a plot or story idea isn’t working, don’t force it. Take a deep breath, and remember a story is never too old to tell. Give it time.

What is your next project?

My next project is a collection of short stories called Beads of the West. I’ve always wanted to create a project that includes many short stories. Sometimes, they feel a bit more digestible compared to a continuous story.

What do you do to get book reviews?

I like to contact independent/indie reviewers with their own platforms, and pitch my books.

If there was one thing you could do to change the world, what would it be?

If I could do one thing to change the world, it would be to give more resources to people who struggle with mental health and finding stability in their lives. Before writing, art, and music, I struggled to have a sense of foundation in my life, and more support would’ve saved me from a lot times of doubt and pain.
